Millie has always loved stories - ever since she was a little girl. One day, on the way back from the beach with her parents and brother, there is a car accident and her mother dies. Millie is left unable to walk, suffering temporary paralysis.
She spends day after day in the hospital, amidst nightmares of the accident. To cope, she makes up and write stories with the help of the nurses and hospital janitor. Then story centres around a little girl called Mollie, who wants to climb a ladder to get to the moon to rescue her mother who has been trapped by the evil frost king. Millies father is not interested in her writing, and barely visits her in hospital as he blames her for the accident. But with the help of her friends in the hospital the story is finished and performed just in time for Christmas. Millie and her father are reunited. |
